JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com -President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he was interested to become a futurologist after his retirement. When addressing the participants of an International Conference on Futurologists at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday, the President wished to become a part-time futurologist because such a profession takes too much time in making strategic plans and making predictions of the future. "I was thinking about becoming a part-time futurologist because I would need a lot of time in making preparations and strategies by predicting what would happen this week, next year, and in the next decade," he said. Themed "How the World will Change in the Next 30 Years: World Experts Talk about Global Trends and Force that will Sweep the 21st Century" the conference was the a meeting of worlds futurologists. The President thanked the participants for their participation and work. The President said the work and research of futurologists are very relevant to Indonesia which is still facing the big process of transformation, democratization, development and decentralization. In a meeting also attended by BKPM chief Gita Wirjawan, Indonesian ambassador to the US Dino Patti Djalal, and several cabinet members, the President heard an explanation from the futurologists on future trends of Indonesia and the world. "We are waiting for your perspectives to give a better understanding about the strategies of achieving our national aims." The President also told the participants about Indonesias 2030 vision on economic growth, stable democracy, the developingcivilization.
